Meet Kyla Miranda

I renovated my first home, invested along the way, and upsized to one that fit my life. Whatever your next move looks like — your first home, your next one, or an investment — I understand it from every angle.

My Story

The long way home to Newfoundland.

Consumer Choice Award 2026-2027 winner, St. John's

I came to real estate the long way around. I've been an artist, an archaeologist, a researcher, and a teacher — with countless other jobs in between. After five years of traveling and living away, I came home to Newfoundland for good, took an office job in document control in St. John's, and my husband and I bought our first house.

I got my real estate license to get out and about more, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. Today I'm one of the top agents at Keller Williams Platinum Realty and a longtime member of our Agent Leadership Council — but the reason I connect with my clients is simpler than any of that: I've been on every side of a move myself — buying my first home, renovating it, investing, and upsizing — so wherever you are in the journey, I get it.

To me, real estate is about the potential of places, but even more the potential in people. Listening closely and helping you realize your vision is genuinely my favourite part of the job.

Upsizing

Why I understand the move up.

The best part of my job is helping people move up to a home that finally fits — because I've made that exact move myself.

After finishing our first-house renovations, my husband and I started dreaming about somewhere more walkable. We were tired of renovating, and we knew that no matter what else we did the house would never be truly perfect — and the sloped lot made snow clearing brutal. After one particularly bad winter, we knew it was time, even though the market had dipped since we'd bought and we risked taking a loss despite all the work.

But when we ran the numbers, upsizing made far more financial sense than staying put. We'd realized lifestyle mattered more to us than anything: a garage for easy snow clearing, a kitchen island for my husband who loves to cook, a home that needed no renovations, and a walkable neighbourhood where I could spend time outdoors. Making that move changed my life.

So I know how it feels to be overwhelmed or stuck — how it can seem easier to stay put than to make what feels like a huge leap. I also know it's always worth it once you're on the other side. When you're ready to move up, I coordinate the sale and the purchase together, managing the timing, financing, and strategy so the whole thing feels smooth instead of stressful.

Real Estate Investing

I don't just sell real estate — I invest in it.

Hands-on experience I bring to every client weighing a home's income potential.

I caught the investing bug early, after we bought a home to use as a short-term rental. I loved it so much that when we upsized, I was thrilled to find a place with an apartment of its own.

Since then, that passion has grown into a portfolio of our own: my husband and I now own four rental properties — ten doors in total. It's where I discovered my love of building a business and investing, and it shapes how I look at every property.

That means I can help you weigh a home's income potential from real, hands-on experience — whether you're eyeing a house with an income suite to help offset your mortgage, or buying your first investment property. I've been there, and I can walk you through the numbers honestly.

Renovation Know-How

I've torn down the walls myself.

When we tour a home together, I help you see past the finishes to what's really there.

Our first house was great, but it needed everything. With a contractor and a whole lot of our own DIY, we tore down walls, replaced every floor, and painted top to bottom — plus more. We spent weekend after weekend at the hardware store, learning as we went. It was exhausting, invaluable, and honestly a lot of fun.

Because of that, I know what renovations really cost in time, money, and patience. When I'm walking through a home with you, I'm not just admiring the finishes — I'm helping you see both the flaws and the real potential, so you know exactly what you'd be taking on. And no detail is too small: paying close attention is a habit from my years as an artist, archaeologist, and researcher.
